| Fatal errors and error messages
|
If clicking on links to the glossary produces error messages either try activating Java Script or access the glossary through the navigation menu.
If you are stuck and cannot leave the welcome page, try switching off Java script or using either a more recent browser-version or a different browser.
Messages like 'Document not found' are most likely caused by clicking links in documents with printer-layout: If you are in a window without title logo, white background and grey menu just close the window to return to the main page. In any other case you have probably discovered a broken or invalid link - please report immediately!
| Problems with layout / colors |
This page was designed for 16-bit color mode. Pictures and background colors are displayed incorrectly with only 256 colors.
If you experience problems with missing background colors, misplaced elements or sudden font changes, try the following: Netscape users should make sure that Java Script is activated (it's *not* required - must be a bug in the browser) or upgrade to a version later than 4.x. If problems persist, try a different browser.
Articles are available in printer friendly layout: Open the article and click on the printer-icon in the right top corner. Now click on 'Print' at the top of the page - if this doesn't work select 'File / Print' from your browser's top menu.
If the article is devided into two sections (indicated by numbers in brackets in title and contents menu) both parts have to be opened and printed separately. When printout has finished, simply close the window.
| Listening to / downloading midi files |
Clicking left will usually play the file. For downloading a midi file, right-click the link and select 'Save' ('Save target', 'Save file', 'Save link' - depending on your browser). Tested under Netscape 4.7, Internet Explorer 5 and Opera 5.01.
| Problems with the glossary |
Glossary-links within articles require jave script. If Java Script is not active, clicking these links doesn't work or even produces error messages. In such a case the glossary is still accessible from the navigation menu.
Netscape sometimes shows a strange behaviour: if the glossary hasn't been opened yet and you access it from an article, the window will open without jumping to the requested term. Once the glossary is open, everything seems to work fine, though. Thus double-clicking glossary-links might be a good idea for Netscape users. If anybody has a explanation or even solution for this problem, I'd be very glad to hear.
| Can I use your music / articles...? |
It depends. The answer is probably 'yes' - but never without my explicit permission. What I'm trying to say: For private or uncommerial use just send me a short description of what you want to use where and what for - I probably won't have any objections. In case of commercial use, contact me for details.
I am using a master-keyboard for entering music into a midi sequencer. From time to time I also make use of notation for entering notes or editing a piece. For details about my equipment, take a look at the Equipment-page.
As for the writing itself: I honestly don't know - but it's mostly trial and error... ;-)
| What's all that General Midi-, Sequencer-, Synth-, Live!- and SoundFont-stuff...? |
Short definitions are available in the glossary.
| What is 'Phoenix Rising'?
|
A freeware adventure game project that was abandoned a few years ago. The project was hosted by Spielkultur, an association that's dedicated to the creation of free software. It was meant to be a dark, athmospheric SF-adventure from the classical story-telling-genre, with quite a unconventional and complex plot. I was involved with basic concept, storyboard and music. Parts of the original soundtrack are now available in the midi section.
